Wedding Invitations: Alternative Ideas

Taylor Field @ 3:45 pm

Are you starting to put some ideas together for your wedding invitations? It’s never too early to start thinking about what you might want for when your wedding approaches.

Your wedding invitations can be classic, modern or alternative. All three are excellent choices and can be done in many different styles. You should pick an appropriate invitation that matches both your personality as a couple and the tone of the event.

Some people choose to get a little funky with their wedding invitations and it is always a great way to make your invitations memorable. Here are some creative ideas to choose from:

• Marrying in a major city? Get a beautiful engagement photo of you and your sweetheart taken in front of a major landmark and make it the front of your wedding invitation.

• Origami invitations make your invitees do a little bit of work in the beginning, but it always pays off in the end. Print dotted lines on your pliable invitation and let your invitee fold it in ways to make a flower or a church or a fortuneteller. On the top will be the information to your event. Of course, if your invitee never figures the folding part out, there is a good chance that they will not show.

• A flipbook is a very cute and memorable way to announce your wedding. Have an artist or even a talented friend to draw out little pictures that illustrate the proposal, or boy and girl fall in love scene when the little booklet is quickly flipped through.
Although the alternative invitations are fun and clever, the classic, tradition and contemporary invitations can make just as much as an impact. You can use watercolors, bows, lace, strong borders and beautiful calligraphy to bring your invitations to the next level and make them stand out.

The online resources are great for looking up real invitations that real brides have used in the past. You don’t have to copy them exactly, but you will probably get some great ideas from what other people have done in the past.
