Baby Naming is not Easy

khass @ 3:23 pm

Exciting News! I am over 6 months pregnant now.  My husband and I are both very excited and recently found out we are having a baby girl. I always thought baby naming would be really easy and a lot of fun. To our surprise it has been a lot a work and a little bit of a challenge. We Started by looking at baby names online

You Can also visit your local library to borrow free books about baby names.

We had already decided what the baby name would have been if we were having a boy. He would have been named after his dad, Frankie, and his middle name would have been taken from my dad, Robert. 1,2,3 Easy! But since we are having a girl, we have pulled out the name books.

There is one girl name I really like, but, my husband works with someone with that name, so he just doesn’t feel comfortable using it. Surprisingly enough our taste in names is a bit different from each other, my husband likes the traditional girl names and I like names that are a little less common.

The Baby shower is coming; we have ordered our baby shower invitations, baby shower party napkins and baby thank you cards. We have all the personalized stationery we are going to need for the next couple of months. I know people will be asking what name we have chosen, we are just going to have to tell them we have not decided on a name yet, we have been planning the baby shower and ordering the custom embossed stationery.

Having a Baby ? Shopping for Personalized Baby Stationery ?

khass @ 9:44 am

Are you having a baby? This is probably no surprise, but, there are a lot of things you are going to need. I am sure you have heard that, but, it’s true. You will need everything from a crib, car seats and diapers to clothes, toys and more. It really doesn’t seem like a lot of stuff until you actually start buying, then it begins to add up quickly.

If you are having a baby shower, be sure to register. You can register for baby in store or even online. Make sure to read consumer reviews on baby products and know what you are registering for. Hopefully you get a few of the things you are going to need. This will be a big help when you are paying for food, diapers and childcare.

If a family member is throwing your shower they are probably shopping for baby shower invitations. There are such a cute and large selection of shower invitations now. You can also get custom printed or embossed baby shower napkins and baby thank you note cards that match your invites. Be sure to keep this in mind. This will tie your entire shower together and a great touch.

One last thing. After your new baby arrives you will probably want to send baby announcement cards. InvitePapers.com has baby arrival cards to match. I suggest ordering everything at once and getting it out of the way. Either way good luck and congrats on your new baby!

Back To School With Style

Tara Scalzo @ 7:28 am

The new school year is officially in full swing, believe it or not! It seemed that summer went by in a flash, as it usually does. I keep telling myself to slow down and enjoy the summer with the kids while it’s here, but before I have the chance to focus and breathe – BAM – it’s over.

But one of the most exciting events that my daughter and I relish is shopping for new clothes and school supplies. Nothing makes you feel like a million bucks than brand spanking new shoes, crisp new jeans and an awesome backpack. It sets a positive tone for the upcoming year, as if she could take on anything elementary school could possibly throw at her.

As a mom, one of my favorite gifts I like to give my daughter this time of year is her own personalized classroom tablet. It’s the most beautifully designed, practical gift I could bless her with to prepare for the upcoming year. She could use it to write down homework assignments, practice her handwriting, give important notes to her teachers, or just use to doodle pictures and ideas on for fun. The greatest thing about a blank piece of paper is the possibilities. And the fact that it has her name monogrammed on the top is a bonus. Not only does this make it an extra special tablet, but also there will be no doubt who wrote on it. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing….especially if she’s passing notes to the cute boy sitting 3 rows away.

Ugh, let’s not even go there. That’s a whole different set of issues I’m not yet prepared to deal with.

But at least she’s starting the new school year in style. What happens after that is up to her. Go get ‘em girl!

Small Moments in Time

Tara Scalzo @ 8:21 am

Growing up, my mom use to document everything I did. Every milestone, every graduation, every award, every band recital, every drama performance, even when I went on my first date. UGH! I use to think she was crazy for journaling all these silly little events in my life.  To me, they weren’t that monumental, but to my mom they were significant events she felt the need to write about every free moment she had. I would just roll my eyes and laugh. If that made my mom happy, then so be it.

Fast-forward a couple of decades. I’m now married with children of my own, and guess what? I’m finding myself writing about all the amazing things my kids do. Now, in hindsight, my mom’s silly little writing quark makes sense to me. I get it. I totally understand.

But the main reason I write everything down is because my parents live so far away, and cannot witness everything their grandchildren do in person.  They enjoy the weekly phone calls with the kids, but phone calls tend to be so fleeting and impersonal. That’s why I’ve made it a habit to sit down every Saturday morning with a hot cup of coffee, grab a piece of beautiful personalized stationery and detail every amazing moment and silly shenanigan my kids did that week.

I know it sounds silly, but I can almost hear my mom smile as she retrieves my letter from the mailbox, carefully opens the envelope and slowly reads every word I’ve written, laughing with joy. I could only imagine the pile of letters my mom has accumulated over the past 10 years, vicariously experiencing my kids *first words *first steps *discovering the world around them for the first time *potty training *entering kindergarten *epic birthday parties *family vacations…the list could go on and on.

It’s almost as if I didn’t write it down and share it with loved ones, it never really happened. The power of the written word is an amazing thing. And continues to bring my family closer throughout the years.
